Born in Deir ez-Zor, Syria, Rami Al Ali's love of refined aesthetics began at an early age. Being the only boy of five children, Al Ali took an early interest in style and fashion, with his curiosity of the arts eventually leading him to Syria's capital city, Damascus, where In 1991, Al Ali joined the College of Fine Arts to study Visual Communications. Inspired by the institute's freedom of expression, Al Ali's decision to design and produce a fashion show for his final graduation project astounded his professors, who were impressed at his portrayal of fine arts through fashion.
Upon graduation in 1995, Al Ali travelled to the United Arab Emirates to gain valuable international experience within the prestigious fashion houses. He quickly gained respect from the industry, resulting in an immediate, loyal client base, which ultimately led to the creation of the Rami Al Ali label in the year 2000. Through growing recognition of his brand, Al Ali was selected to participate in many events alongside key international designers, including the 2006 Asian Olympic Games in Qatar and Swarovski's beautiful coffee table book, UNBRIDALED. A number of inspiring shows around the Gulf led to his designs occupying the covers of leading fashion magazines and red carpet celebrations.
Al Ali's European breakthrough came in 2009, when his Spring/Summer couture collection graced the runway at Rome's AltaRoma couture week, and was the first of six consecutive shows to take place during this prestigious Fashion Week. His success was further cemented by being named as one of the top 50 most influential Arabs by The Middle East Magazine. Growing in confidence and status, Al Ali's designs were sought after by celebrities and socialites alike, adorning the likes of Natasha Bedingfield, Vanessa Mae, Ivana Trump, Youssra, Julie Bowen and Googoosh, amongst many others.
In January 2012, Ali Ali debuted during the Couture Fashion Week in Paris, showcasing his Spring/Summer 2012 collection amongst the crème de la crème of the fashion world. Now on his ten consecutive season in Paris, Al Ali's transition from daydreamer to global trendsetter is complete.
